Exhibitions at the 2nd East African Tourism Expo in Bujumbura closed. The East Africa Partner states have been urged to brand and position as a premier event. This is in order to improve visibility of the region as a single tourist destination.
Other recommendations include
- Partner States should be innovative and develop tourism products that protect the natural ecosystems and biodiversity.
- Partner States should create synergies and collaborate in promotion of the East Africa Region as a single tourism destination.
- Partner States should jointly package and promote tourism investment opportunities.
- The need to strengthen regional tourism value-chains to spread tourism benefits to local communities.
The Expo now moves into a phase of familiarization tour across Burundi for stakeholders.
